Does anyone have feedback on this filter ( EHEIM Pro3e), am thinking of getting it.
and can someone pm me the price range of this monster?
Is the bio stream function effective in creating that changing flow in the tank?
More info on the machine here http://www.eheim.de/eheim/inhalte/in...ail_28383_ehen
Appreciate any comments, thanks
God bless

If you can afford it, go for it. It is the leading contender in it's class. You should not pay more than $600, if so go shopping again. The programmable flow control works fine but take note it's meant for a big tank 4x2x2 and above.
Pros
1)silent
2)compact
3)easy to get spare parts
4)idiot proof reliability
5)local warranty
Cons
1)costs( it's alot of money for a filter )
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.
thanks for the heads up
what really attracted me was the ability to change water flow consistently in a pattern.
Wanted to create the river flow feel.
any others have comments?
I don't think there are other filters out in the market that create the river flow feel that you want, so if you're set on that effect, this is probably the filter to go for. that being said, i'm quite wary of electronics combined with water as a slight defect can render your electronics blown...but eheim is reliable so i guess that's just an unfounded worry on my part?
if you'd like a cheaper alternative, but slightly uglier aesthetics wise, you can always have an additional pump/powerhead that's on a timer with the inlet/outlet placed together with your regular filter to create timed changes in water flow too.
but if you're willing to part with the cash, i'd say go for it as eheims are known for their reliability and quality. but as michael lai pointed out, it's only for big tanks or the flow will blow your fish away. i'm using a fluval fx5 (slightly higher flowrate than the 3e i think) in my 4x2x2 and my discus do find it hard to swim at the outlet area while the tetras avoid that area totally (only the whiptails and rasboras love the huge flow at the outlet)
i bought one for a friend's arowana tank about a year ago.
met up with him this past wednesday and he told me his impeller broke.
and they couldn't get the spare parts for two months.
he got in touch with ehiem international and soon got a replacement...
the WHOLE unit got exchanged!!

I finally uploaded an avatar and Cupid is dead!!!![]()
lol so does that mean it's poor quality, poor local service but good international service?
just kidding, probably unlucky that he gotone of the few eheims that slipped through their stringent QC
Im using one for my 250litres tank. No worries on the flowrate though as it can be adjusted accordingly, with the electronic control.
I've no doubt about eheim's reliability. What i'm concerned is the electronic component in the filter. How long can it last and can it be replaced?

River flow suppose to be constant right?
If that's what you really want, should research on 'river tank' setups instead. Some folks use PVC pipes and 2 or 3 power heads to achieve it.![]()

I am using the Fox temperature controller.
As for the PH controller, I have used them before, and find that it's redundant in certain sense. Nowadays, i prefer to test the water for KH and PH to determine the amount of CO2 to get into the water, and with a timer to fix the timing for CO2 injection. So after the photo period, the plants and fishes will get all the oxygen they had wanted.
