I'm in the process of setting up my tank for tangas. Looking for boulders to compliment the stack of slate in my 3.5ft tank. Anyone got any idea?

Or is it a bad idea to mix slate and boulders.... any thoughts?
    Cheers!!

In general i feel its best to just stick to one kind of rock for the setup , will look more natural.

From my experience, you'll need lots more rocks than that. You need to break line of sight, and territorial space.

Errmmm... the cichlids will dig under the slate. That structure will collapse eventually. What you need to do to do is put a layer of styrofoam at the bottom. Then pile the rocks on top of that. After that, fill in the coral sand. Pour coral sand liberally into the gaps of the bottom few layers of rocks... give them something to dig.

[] Shop around for the pricing. I find nurseries specialising in those ponds tend to be expensive.

Sherwin, alternatively, u can do like what i do for my marine tank.. i never use the styroform board.. instead.. i stack up all the rocks and make sure that they are stable by twisting and adjusting them till they sit tight on each other.. then i pour in the sand.. alternatively, u can use epoxy to seal the structure.. Sherwin,

Try Mainland Tropical Fish Farm at 1, Pasir Ris Farmway 1, S(519352). That's where I got mine from (same as the ones in LSZ's link above). Look for them at the driveway between the two bldgs on the right.
