Where does Planorbis corneus/rubrum (Ram's Horn Snail) originate from?

Does anyone know where does ram's horn snail originate? Thanks.

Not sure, but the distribution seems to be rather wide.

The thing is, how sure are we that the Ramshorn snails are P. corneus/rubrum?

Looking at this document, all of them are Ramshorn snails, there are so many similiar looking but different species.

I've got some red ramshorn snail sometime back and they've reproduce some youngs. A question to ask. Will the young also exhibit redness? Because mine doesn't looked red but brownish instead. Thanks.

Yup they'll still be red, though some will be a bit brownish. From an initial group of 10 I now have close to 60+ in a 1 x 1 x 1.5 ft tank.

Thanks chongyu. Well mine arent red. They're brown and green. And mine very slow reproduction rate. Kept for close to 2 months but so far only had 2 young ones.

are you keeping them in your betta tank? if so your betta may be eating the young ones. i'm finding alot of empty shells in my Betta albimarginata tank

The reproduction rate for mine was quite slow at the beginning too. Only about 3-4 months of keeping I suddenly got a population explosion.
