Lawrence... wah.... i think this one i also headache man....i don't know anyone to reccommend but if i am back around then i don't mind helping out.
We'll be moving in March, so now's the time of reckoning.
How would one move 5 planted tanks and a 4x2x2 housing a 1.5ft pacu? Is there any method to prepare for in advance or specialist mover whom I can contact?
I'm hoping not to have to start over. Otherwise, I'd have to consider quitting the hobby as cycling so many tanks may be the death of me (even if it is to be a mini cycle, since the filters are well matured with biofilms). Moreover, 2 are filterless Walstad style tanks, and all have base layer of soil.
Your thoughts appreciated!
Warm regards,
Lawrence Lee

Lawerence,
How big are the 5 planted tanks?
As for the 4x2x2 tank, if you clear out the water and catch the pacu. You can get some transport company to carry your tank over.
There are some company that specialise in transporting tank. But most only will transport bare tank.

Thanks for the offer Justin.
Nick, 4 of them are 2' x 1.5' x 1.5', 1 is a 1' x 1' x 1' cube.
Zhan, thanks for the contact. I used Paul (SG Bros) to move the 4x2x2 last time, but it was an empty tank then. Now with 50kg of gravel, plants, basefert, etc, I really am at a loss. I am reluctant to remove the gravel for all tanks, because it means starting over, not to mention having to get gravel all over again as many of the tanks are NPT with soil as the base layer. But how to move with the gravel and plants inside without breaking the glass?
I'm thinking maybe I can lower the water level of the tanks after catching out the fish till it is just damp on the soil, wrap with a cling wrap to preserve humidity and then move quickly. Maybe, I can do that one tank at a time over the course of several days.
Alternately, I can convert most tanks to emersed growth (I have time, as I foresee moving sometime in April) and put all the fish in one bare bottom tank, so it is easier to move.
As for Pacu I need to go get the tranquiliser that fishing pond owners use when they transport their fish over from malaysia.
Please do keep the replies and ideas coming. Thanks.

Rent a few concrete pond to house your livestock. After you have transferred the tanks over to the new house and have rescape your setup, you could take your time to transfer back all the livestock.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
