hi i seach around.... cant really find infomation on this

i was wondering whether its possible to keep a tank with all female Apistogramma... will they fight it out? as i seen my female viejita flare when she saw herself in the mirror.

if one of the female give birth... will the rest eat the egg or baby?

    thanks

I don’t think you will get any breeding activities with a all female setup.

So assuming a lucky male will be introduced periodically.
Yes females will fight among themselves. They are even more aggressive when caring for the fries.

Imagine if all the females are breeding at the same time, I think the poor male will be hammered big time.

BTW, what kind of apisto. In both cases I think it's possible, just have enough hiding place to be safe. do post a pic of the tank.

If you put all females in a tank you wouldn't get any breeding activities at all. It'll be almost like an all-male tank i guess.

Whats the reason for setting up an all-female tank?

Is it for long term purposes or temporary only?

    ha yep i know that

    for example:

i got 3 pair of Apistogramma. and they keep on breeding

can i place all 3 female in 1 tank...

and each of the male in a tank of their own?

just like fighting fish, all female in 1 tank and each male in a tank of their own

Hi thanantosis, currently I have 2 female Aipistogramma agassizii and 1 female Apistogramma macmasteri left ( all their mates have gone to fish heaven) in my 4 ft tank. So its a sort of all female tank now, unfortunately they are not living peacefully together.
