You wouldn't need to have a macro lens. Any lens will do.
What system are you using?

I am using cannon 350D. Tamron 28-70 f2.8. Will do?

Will do. Other things like ST-E2 and flash, during the workshop, if need to be used for practice session, will be provided by some of us.

Thanks to those who have voted on the poll to give us an indication. Looks like there is enough interest to start a workshop. So I will close the thread.

In the meantime, we will try to source a location that will allow us to conduct the workshop in the most effective manner. Do watch out for the announcement. Once we post up the announcement, those names that appear in the poll will be listed at the top.
