I am a little puzzled by my chiller and the temperature in my tank.

I have a 3ft tank and my temperature measured in my tank is 27-28 degrees.

However, my chiller (model: serun 450L) is set to 22 degrees. That's a 5 degree difference. And my chiller displays the 'tank' temperature as 22 degree.

That's strange. I thought maybe my thermometer is spolit and so I get another one. It's still reads between 27-28 degrees.

I put in 2 locations (high-low) and it still reads the same while my chiller read 22 degrees.

    I'm puzzled. Any help?

The thermometer on your chiller should be faulty since you've reached the same result using 2 isolated thermometers. Invest in an external thermostat would solve the problem.

Ah? The chiller is new, cannot be right?

Anyway, I was feeling the water, it doesn't feel like 22 degrees to me...

If it is not stuck at 22 then you can do a offset by pressing the +/- key together for 10s.

Add 5C to offset the reading to 27 and see if it works for now.
Then you can decide if you need to get an external thermometer to control the function of the chiller.

i think it could be the thermometer issue.
i used to have a digital thermometer (mr Aqua)and i thought it was very accurate but the temperature in my tank always hit 30-32degC so i tend to cool it down with ice pack and it resulted many casualties. then i went to get an old school liquid thermometer and i used it to compare with the digitial. the digital read 31degC but the liquid thermometer read 28degC..... that was the last i ever saw that Mr Aqua.

No, press the set button and hold for 10 sec (i think), then it will show you the offset which should be 0, follow by you use + or - to adjust accordingly.

How new is it? Why not give the lfs a call? If you're lucky, I've known that some of the lfs are offering up to 6 months warranty for Resun chillers. (Note: Not manufacturers warranty but lfs warranty)

OK, it seems to be looking OK after I calibrate.

I pressed the +/- buttons and it turns CA, I set +5

Now the chiller is set at 25 degrees, showing 28-29 degrees for the water and my fish tank themometer is hovering at 27 degrees.

    Is that OK?

It all depends on what is acceptable to you.

If the temperature is consistent (per the thermometer) then to me it is ok (I am not a perfectionist).

You said, setting at 25, reading at 28 and actual is 27.

So you can actually offset mentally the 1 degree or just do the +/- thing again.

But the setting seems a bit "funny". Is your chiller always on as 25C is > 1 degree above the 28 reading it is getting ?
