I have spotted some BBA on the tip of my bogwood which is like 5cm away from my lamp. They are easy to scrap off, but would i be a problem if they fall onto the substrate? Would the BBA propagate on substrate or attach itself to some plant after being scrapped off the surface?

Just to be sure what aglae this is. I took the picture with on board flash, but the hairs are green to the naked eye. Looking out for advise how to get rid of it. They are growing on, mainly on wood close to water surface.

Looks like BBA to me. Mine grows up to 2cm long & I can easily pluck it off

BBA is usually associated with poor CO2/CO2 distribution. In my case, a proper management of the bioloads helps in combating BBA.

I guess could be Co2 deficiency? Been working out of home recently, cannot coordinate Co2 injection timing with lighting timing because i am not using a solenoid valve. Does increased injection of Co2 help now? Alternatively do Seachem Excel work better in this case?

To add on, i read that squirting excel helps to kill BBA as a quick fix. Do you do that in water or out of water? Or do you dose the water with excel?

Excel can be applied either inside or outside the water. When using it inside the water, make sure you turn off the filter, squirt it on the BBA & turn on the filter 15-20 minutes later. I think 1.5x to 2.0x of the recommended dosage is fine.

Alternatively, if you do it out of water, you'll have much more options. You can use Excel, H2O2 or just boiling water on the bare wood .

actually you can use syringe and inject directly or touching the BBA. Do this once a day for 3 days, and it will turn white and die
