I like to know what you guys think about the blue foam filter media that is used in Eheim Ecco? Is it comparable to the Eheim Ehfi Substrat. I got some of this blue foam but never try it. Anybody use Eheim Ecco with this filter all the way up inside the cannister? Please comment.

The blue foam is for mechanical filtration only. Biological function is minimal. Eheim had 2 recommendations for media in the Ecco series. One of them is the typical biological setup. The other one is for mechanical filtration, which is similar to your idea accept for white pad (EhfiSynth) at the top.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

I think it works as biological filter too. It is widely used for pond filter in koi farms. Just don't know how effective.

I think what the Koi farms use are these. There are close-up images. The Eheim one is not the same.

I have seen that before but my lfs sell pond filter with rectangular cartridgres of blue foam inside a big black plactic container with series of pipes. Maybe just a cheaper product. Well better stick with the ehfi substrat then. Thanks for the info.
