Dear members,
AQ has just been upgraded to the latest version of vBulletin. This version has many new features such as members albums, tagging, and many others.
We hope to explore and introduce significant features over time.
One of the major changes is the User CP.
There are still a few modifications that I have not yet re-installed, so the forum may look like it's missing a few features. Please be patient, they should be back soon.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Check out your profile for some of the new features.

COOL!!! Thanks for burning your weekend on this! Appreciate it!
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
I'm hoping there's no more major upgrades anytime soon. Seems like they already released version 3.8 beta!!!

Thanks! I was there to surf the forum till it shutdown on Saturday.
What is "Social Group" about? Is this a new feature? Only moderator allow to start a group?
I find it a lot slower (using FireFox) after the upgrade.
Is it only me or?
We are still exploring like everyone else.

Thanks for the effort Vinz.
Using firefox portable, loading speed seems pretty normal for me.

It's pretty fast for me at home now. Office firewalls may be having a go at the new scripts.

congratulations on the successful merge!
sure there'll be kinks to smoothen out but good work!
wow congrats! appreciate the effort to grow this forum. now got more info to gain from. well done!
Elmike, it's not about being 'swallowed up' but it's a merging between 2 forums. As far as I know, we are consolidating resources under one roof so that hobbyist can have a 1 stop area for whatever aquatic information they are seeking.
Hope this helps!

If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.
Hi Mike,
While it's good to know you are keeping track of the various forums, may I add that "the more the merrier, as we will then become a much bigger, more vibrant and happier family" does not necessarily equate to 'happier'.
A rough analogy to your 'consolidation of all forums' would be to have my siblings, parents, grandparents, wife and siblings, in-laws and their parents all under one roof. It may make for a more interesting life but where is your breathing space, your need for privacy and room to grow as an individual? Will you or I be any happier? In all honestly, I doubt either will be better off..
Ditto for the various local discus, betta, koi, guppy & arowana clubs, just to name a few. The logistic and specific needs cannot be satisfied by just one aquatic club nor be allowed to run like the local political machinery with an iron fist.
Each local forum has over time evolved their own culture, niche interest or area of specialization which may be marginalized or generalized in an all-purpose aquatic forum. It is for the board administration and supporting members to make that forum work within limited resources.
Specific to the now-merged Killies.com board, it was built upon the passion for killifishes and the founders' desire to contribute back to the hobby. The heavy-handed approach to non-SMS and colloquial Singlish was our attempt to build the forum's culture and a conducive environment for both locals and international members, even when English is not their primary language.
There is a time and place for actions and decisions, some of which may not be logical to the casual observer or drifting members to where it is 'more happening'. The decision to have Killies.com merge with AquaticQuotient was a timely one, so let's leave it at that.
At a personal level, I have contributed well over my means but it was a much-considered decision. It may appear that we have failed to elevate the awareness of killifishes but in retrospect, I would rather have tried and failed than not having tried at all.
Never try, never know, my friend.
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,

Mike, according to my favorite online dictionary, there are a few definitions to the word 'strive';
1. to exert oneself vigorously; try hard: He strove to make himself understood.
2. to make strenuous efforts toward any goal: to strive for success.
3. to contend in opposition, battle, or any conflict; compete.
4. to struggle vigorously, as in opposition or resistance: to strive against fate.
5. to rival; vie.
By 'internal strive', I hope you do not mean internal conflicts but rather, to make strenuous efforts toward any goal, to strive for success, which is a common objective between the previous board and AQ.
Having said that, we're really deviating from the thread subject. However, if you're still in the mood to skewer some gahmen's butt, meet me in the Member's Lounge instead.
