Since you have experience in it, may you share with us more infomation about getting there?

Anw, I'll only able to go after 12th July due to work... other else I dont mind to organize such trips

. The price may drop then but it will be great if we can visit the original place

... Btw, do we need to get permisson from gov to bring oversea creatures to S'pore?

I don't mean to be a spoil sport, but since there is an overwhelming interest in these shrimps, I am just hoping for some awareness and pray that...

1. there isn't a repeat of the Danio margaritatus disaster, where their habitat was close to destruction barely six months after they are discovered,

2. there is still a lot more to be discovered on the biodiversity of Sulawesi, sustainability of the aquarium trade is largely unknown, scientific studies are not in place yet and this is not helped by deforestation, mining, etc... so some form of conservation and trade restrictions may be necessary in place in future, and

3. those who got the shrimps would try breeding them so that there is an alternative source for them, and the species would not be lost if the worst scenario were to happen.

Sorry for the rant.

Anyway, less people know the location is better for species there. I would rather the price of the shrimps be higher, so that the collectors will be happy with the earning and catch less causing less damage.

Sad to see the size of C. spongicola is getting smaller over the batches coming to Singapore, what that can mean is the large size has already been depleted. Previously, there were so many Caridinal (Germany way of calling, here I think is call Blue something), but now the importor said they are not able to catch in large number.

Anyway, there are lot of other cheaper shrimp species around one can afford to keep, making a trip there to catch free shrimps is uncalled for and I do not think it can be any cheaper. And it wont be a trip like going to our reservoir to catch tiger barbs.

Got 6 pieces and till today, all's well. It's has been 5 days.

pH 7 - 7.05
Temp. 25 - 26 degrees.

Lapis sand and ADA aquasoil. Added a few pieces of coral stones too. External canister filter. This tank used to be kept with crs but over time and replacing some off the ADA aquasoil with lapis sand, the pH went up and now maintains at around 7.

Saw 100s of them in a shop here in Jakarta. Destination SGP. Think the price might be lower this time round.. unless the LFSes want to enjoy huge profits.

Will be getting mine tomorrow.

That's the most beautiful sula shrimps. It has red/black/maroon body color with white dots and white claws.

For those who didn't know, Matano is one of the lakes (including Towuti, Mahalona and Wawontoa) making up the Malili lake systems in Sulawesi.

The first one is matano blue, they come in red too.
