All nutrients (NPK), when in excess will contribute to algae growth. So, reducing those nutrients within the range, which is sufficient for plant but not too much in excess will help reducing algae.
If you get rid of of all P, plants will suffer from malnutrition. So, it's better that you control the level of P (by controlling the fertiliser dosing & fish food) compared to removing excessive P. Anyway, if you need the Phosphate Sorb, I have one for sell.
