I suggest you go over to bioplast to talk to Mr Tan. I think he is very familiar with this thermostat thing.

Depending on your chiller brand and model.

If you got Resun all models CL 200s to CL650, install an external thermostat is almost unlikely no unless special modification on the PCB card to connect to external thermostat.

The rest Haliea and other good brands are possible to install an external thermostat with help of skilled electrican or aircon engineer.

Another thing, that depends on what model is your external thermostats... will it able to fit nicely or work with other brands of chiller?

like this bros , willamng and razorblade recommend you those skilled and experinece guys will help you thru but with charge. So prepare to fork out your ang pow to pay for the service...

    hope this will help you...
    cheers

I wonder whether it is possible to fix an external thermostat yet use back the display on the Hailea or Resun chiller? Having another display on the chiller looks weird. It will definately prevent any reselling of the chiller

I thought an external thermstat works for any chiller if we are talking about the same thing.. my external thermostat has a temp sensor that goes into my tank, and is connect to a digital display box. On the digital display box is a 3-pin power socket, into which the 3-pin plug of the chiller goes into. There is a 3-pin power socket connected to the disital display box that connects to your mains.

That way, I only tune the temp setting on the digital display box. And I leave the temp setting of the chiller as low as I want, say, 18C. The digital display box determines if electrical power is to be supplied to the chiller.

Confusing right? I also think so..

thats what i think too, but what bro eddy planer said, is that quite a few numbers of Resun chillers can't be installed with external thermostat...
if that's true, then isn't it kinda bad news for Resun owners ?

I paid good $$ to attach an external thermostat. Mine is compatible with all chillers including Resuns. It works like a circuit breaker. Once desired temperature is achieved, power cuts off from the chiller. I use a Resun CL450.

I got mine from Derrick costing me about $130. I have not try the FOX brand from SLT. I think that shop is selling another brand which I think is better than FOX.

Mine costs $200 from Mr Chill down. Its a plug and play version. Yes it can be fixed yourself or you can get instructions of doing the settings from himself.

    Hi

If we were to add an external thermostat, I wonder whether it is possible to replace the additional digital display box and use the digital display on our chiller?

Don't go to the shop name "Jutech electric & electronic pte Ltd", as they are not the distributor at SLT. There is one small shop at the basement of SLT, which brought in few model of external thermostat, including fox brand. Ask them if they are the distributor to confirm.

The fox brand external sensor probe is made of plastic, and it cracked after 2 years. Not sure if the lifespan is about there or not. The shop owner recommended other brand which the sensor probe is made of medal. Price range is around there , can't remember !

    Cheers
