Not yet, was contemplating whether to buy and install myself or ask the pro, the irony is, it will cost more then my chiller

But i did check out some of the shops at SLT yesterday and saw some thermostat or temperature control device, but most of them are still close for holiday so I can't check the price and also not sure which will be suitable for our application.

    Cheers,

    hi,

Just an update. Went to slt today and found the shop (i hope it the same as some mentioned). The name is Acez Instruments, ctc Mr. Yeo, quite a helpful man. Explain the product well and even recom installer to me but i didnt take up as too expensive.

They have a few brands. Fox is going at $75 and the tecnologic is at $95. I brought the technologic with the plastic probe sensor. The metal one is not waterproof, hence will damage when submerge into the tank.

Also brought the necessary accessories, connectors, conceal box, 3pins wall socket, wiring, fuse from other shop need to build up the thermosat as it is not a plug n play type.

Total spending, <$120, hopefully worth the spending...

Any bros customised the thermosat, can share on its design. Appreciate... Cheers.

ok, sure but i still considering about the setup whether i should add a fuse between the power source and i am also going to box up the thermosat with a wall socket.

    Hi all,

I have set up my thermosat with 2 design for both my chillers. For those who interested, here is my photo for reference.

    Design 1 (big and bulky)

    Design 2 (More compact)

    Thanks!

Nice DIY, the 2nd design looks neat.

Thanks for sharing your design, so you got all the parts in SLT also ? was thinking whether to replace the default thermostat on the resun to the new one as the size of the socket seems to be the same, or do it like what you did and place it externally.

After you connect this external thermostat, does your chiller kick in less often ?

    Thanks.

Yes, my chiller now kick in 20+min and rest for abt 1hr 30+min when light on, yet to monitor when light off. I am not very comfortable with currect design as it power off the resun chiller instead of cut off the supply.

I am also thinking of replacing the thermosat direct on the resun but need it electric diagram to confirm the connection. Another way is to replace the temperature probe instead which most likely i will try to but first need to know what probe its using. I heard resun probe is connected to the cooler tube partially, hence there is a loss of accuracy and not a thermosat problem. My idea is to get the probe directly to the tank instead, this will ensure the temperature accuracy.

It just a 3pin plug to power on the chiller when it reach the temperature u set on the thermosat.

But the 2nd design box only cost me 5 buck un like the 1st one cost me 15.

So meaning to say, your thermostat is acting like a timer. it power off instead of cutting off the chiller when the temperature is set?

Yup. I think you need to cut the thermostat in the chiller then link up the external thermostat to your chiller.

    RC311 and razorblade

Cool, it looks nice. Can you pm me the price and where you get the items? basically, I think a better solution will be cutting off the chiller instead of switching off the power. I think in long run, it is pretty stressing on your chiller

    hi william,

You can get all the items from sim lim tower. Go to acez, look for mr. Yeo. He sells a few brand of thermosat. Actually after a sec thought, i feel cutting off the supply to the compressor and power off the whole chiller wont make very big difference. By powering off the chiller, dont think it will be stressful.

Appreciate reply if there is any diff view.

Got one question, if the chiller is powered off, will it retain its previous temperature setting ?
