    Hi all,

    - The Marine shop in Farmmart (Choa Chu Kang) also have sharks. Not a place to go to.

    - The cleaner shirmps are selling there for $6 instead of the normal $8. Superstar is selling at $16 per cleaner shirmp. I almost fainted

    Cheers

Of coarse it is illegal...it is just like fish...
Kel, are you sure they were black tip reef sharks, or could they have been black tip sharks? There is a difference..of abt 5 feet..haha..
quite frequently see sharks here..mainly bamboo sharks..and leopard sharks...ocassionally someone will special order a horn shark..

james.. it is a baby black tip reef sharks.. no doubt abt it.. anyway.. i really dun know whether is it illegal in that sense... but i guess it should be.. and sharks should not be in a aquarium unless your tanks is the size of that underwater world in sentosa or sydney and melbourne aquarium... they need the place to swim and they can grow pretty big.. pls james, help to spread the awareness in UK..

Kelvin, the bottom dwelling sharks (like bamboo) can be kept in a 180g, 6x2x2 tank i believe...lots of people on saltwaterfish.com keep these sharsk.
I do agree though, black tip reef sharks should be only for public aquariums, as they are non stop swimmers.

pac marine brings in these black tips on a regular basis- some come with remorars stuck to them. SGD$300 each

the baby nurse/or bamboo sharks- sometimes go for $20-$40.
depends. Pac marine have one near their shrimps tnk at the moment. 30cm in length.

dun think the one in rainbow will last very long- too small space for it to move(& less than 3ft deep). The stress of confinement will kill the thing. (hope rainbow proves me wrong & its still there 2yrs later).
The holding tub alone in pac marine is much bigger than the permanent place the shark is in now. They use blue Koi ponds.
i agree wif kel- if its for home tanks(unless 10ft) u just gonna watch it die slowly.
i saw 2 black tips in a 6ftx4ftx3ft in KL(one of the tit bits shop)a bare tank wif 2 sharks nuthin must to gawk at.

simon- its legal but i think its mainly for public aquaria or export. But they will sell u if u want to pay.

thks brandon, if legally sold here.. I think buyers should always consider the well-being of the fishes first and not becoz he just wanna have it in their aquarium..

james, i agree with u that the bamboo sharks can be kept in our aquariums.. but at least 6ft.. if not, like what bawater had mentioned, it will slowly stress and die off.. similarly, i hope that aquarist will have the civil mindness to realise that unless u are able to provide for such creatures(which i seriously doubt, unless u have a tank like those of Wisma, Orchard Rd, dun bother to try!!), i dun recommend them.. [:]

and they are too small for make sharks fin soup if u are thinking of that line...
