hope for better result in next match.
Singapore Team
Many complained the Singapore team is made up of many foreign players. In a country, population barely a few millions and big majority of parents, civil services, coporates are pro-education, we don't have much choice, right?
Let's give them a round of applause for making this far and they might have a chance to enter the world cup finals!
The next game is 6th Feb against Saudis I think. GO GO!!!!![]()

I don't think they can achieve further than this in the current campaign. I think the early 80s team is still the better Singapore team.

Although they lost, we have to put it in perspective.
If you put the Lions against the Saudis 5-6 years ago, they would have been thrashed 6 or 7 goals. Today, I feel the team is much better. I believe the decision to have the Under-23 team playing regularly in the S-League helped.
We complain that the S-League's game play quality is bad. And that's because we are comparing them with the EPL and Primera Ligua that we are so accustomed to.
I've watch quite abit of Italian Serie C1 (2 divisions below Serie A) last year, and I feel that our S-league is playing better than that! So the S-league is not too bad afterall.
Local soccer still got a few more years to go before reaching the standards that will see our country in the world cup.
i think our players biggest problem is skills. Simply not there yet. The fact that Lionel Lewis did not get selected during his Europe trials is proof that soccer in our region is still lacking in the skills department.

Being a lot less stressful in a less demanding society then and interest driven by fun factor. Playing their hearts out is indeed possible. In today's society that everything is about money and education, we can only depend on the foreign talents. I doubt they have better discipline than our current teams though.
Not many parents are willing to let their children goes into full time sports as a profession. Being a country of less than 5 Million citizens, I doubt "a few more years" will help without the injection of more foreign players which many local football fans are against. Maybe these critics should set example by getting their kids into full time soccer like they did for the gymnastic team in China... that said, watch out for China's soccer team in 10 years time.
PS: By the way those sportsman in China are paid really low, its the country's pride they live on. I wonder how many can survive with that in Singapore, if they ever bother... that is....
PPS: That said, I am still supporting Singapore Soccer Team!!!! Go!!! Go!!! Goal!!!
I do feel that there is a shift in focus to give more emphasis in sports in our society. Hopefully, that translate well in the near future instead of the distant future.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
I support two teams since young age. Liverpool and Singapore. Both are loser in their own way! hahaha![]()

Looks like we are the same boat.
Always find time to make my way to National Stadium to watch them play, be it alone or with my kakis.
But haven't been to a SLeague match before. The standard is still da same when I was playing for Tiong Bahru, so rather stay home.
I believed Rada has made a very very good job in SG soccer. Dedicated, humble, quiet man. I felt so happy when I managed to shake his hands when he was at the lobby before the Asian Cup game.![]()

You better edit your statement to add a time frame to it because you wouldn't want to have to complete your walking backwards feat when you are say 80 years old!![]()
