That's cool. I was thinking that if I get a chiller, I will use a long hose, while putting the chiller itself outside. This seems to be a good solution, though have to read more on how it works.

When the lights are on, do you leave the top cabinet open, or do you have some kind of exhaust.

    Cheers, Christophe

Hi Christophe, why not get the compressor if you run a sump tank. If you run the unit chiller, you may need to run both hoses a long distance and can get quite messy. The chiller may have to kick in more often too?

I am not sure how hot the lights will be, havent run a full test yet. But there are ventilation grills by the side of the tank. Hope that is enough

It's actually copper tubing with insulation instead of a standard hose. Once you decide where to place the compressor, you could not move it again due to the piping. I've placed mine just beside the tank, indoor.

boss, in the last compartment of the sump, the tankmaker has installed a float switch for me, this float switch is controlled by a tap to the tank, everytime the water lowers to a certain level, water will be topped up automatically to this compartment. Hard to explain. Will take more pictures once i install some led lights to the tank.

I roughly understand the setup from your description.

Seemed like in order to get a setup like yours, we need to either get a new place, or conduct massive renovation to our homes

Haha boss, i try to make the "changing water" part of the hobby easier so that hopefully the interest of setting up a planted tank can be sustained longer. The thought of dragging out the hose everytime to change water really make me feel like giving up lol

So when wanna come over and help me with the planting? heehee

Wah, impressive design and setup! I'm planning to setup a 6ft wall display tank with sump for filtration as well. Your design is really what's I'm looking for! Would you please share some information on which contractor for the setup that you engaged? thanks!
