Anyone using Mecury-Vapour Lamps? I just came across this the other day while shopping for MH lamps. Any comments?

Noone can advise here? Am tempted to get a 125W HQL from Giesemann since they are relatively cheaper and seem as bright as the MH lights.

My friend passed me a pair before I bought my MH. I found them too yellowish and extremely hot. But those were the earlier technilogy, I am not sure about the current models.

I see, I checked with them and it seems that its good for planted tank. The light is similiar to the Giesemann Nova series it seems. Does not look yellow to my naked eye. *sigh* I guess I will just get one set for my 2 feet just to try out.

Why not consider a 75w MH?

Thank you for your reply! I did consider a 75w MH however the pricing in comparison to a 125w HQL is the same. Assuming if I turn up the CO2 and ferts to match the lights, I can still make use of it for a bigger tank if I get one.

Get a 150w MH then, not much price difference (if any at all) if I remember correctly.

PS: Considering the height of a 2ft tank, 75w MH is more than enough. Its not about how much CO2 you can crank up, its about how much CO2 can dissolve in your tank.
