    any advise?
What you can do is pull out till you see some root for planting and cut away from there, the remaining roots leave it there and it will become your fertilizers. Stem plant most of the time you can cut from any part, during planting if it rots away, remove some leave from the rotting part and then leave it in the water surface till it grow some roots and replant. There you go, a new plant reborn.

Btw if you plant it too deep it will slow down the grow alot, some plant will properly die before it need the time to grow, when other people grow so fast and yours is so slow. During my researched on planting, i personally find it very important.

    Thanks blue,

Will try the pull and cut method. Not too fond of floating and planting as they go out
    of shape after floating...

When they start to grow roots you can plant them straight away, dont have to wait till they grow out of shape.

Updates of my 4ft planted tank.

Updates of my 4ft Planted tank. Currently battling some BBA growth. Not in it's peak yet. Eriocaulon sp. 'Goias' did not survive. There are some more other plants, but they were just being trimmed. Planning to grow Cyperus helferi on the right side to cover the internal filter & CO2 reactor.

My C. cordata 'Rosanervig'. Honestly I'm quite dissapointed at them, because they have lost their trademark yellow vein.

Miscellaneous plant corner. Comes with C. Albida, Downnoi, + some unknown plants.

    BBA infested fissiden

Foreground plants under transition. C.parva is growing too slowly, jap hairgrass are being pulled up by my fishes, in comes glosso. Hopefully they will cover the foreground soon enough.

Golden nana is not growing so well. Old leaves are dying.

    BBA infested Nana petitte.

Future Focal plant "Queen of Siam" lotus. Now currently under training to grow the leaves under water. Under it is Nana "coffeefolia". Not sure what crypt it is on the left of it.

Currently dosing 6 pumps of Wondergro micro+, 8 pumps of Wondergro macro+, one teaspoon of penac P, & 1 sec squirt of ADA Green Gain after 30% weekly water change. Temp is set at 25.

    Hi RHX,

Maybe its time to check on your C02 level as it is probably low or fluctuating.. It could also indicate a high kH problem..

Perhaps you could dose seachem excel and do a 1 week complete blackout to eradicate the blackbrush algae? If untreated, it will slowly suffocate your plants and eventually cause them to die.

If you rather remove them without chemicals, there are more "natural" ways too. You could increase the levels of C02, of ideally 30ppm. Improving the water circulation/flow around the plants would certainly help.

    cheers,

Re: RHX's 4 ft planted setup

I'm using solnoid to control the CO2 output to 3 bps. I did up the CO2 to 5 bps before, but it did not help. The bba have been staying this way for months, so I don't think it will spread further.

As for the KH, the last measurement was 3 KH so i'm not sure if it's high in this case.

Not sure if I can improve the water circulation further. Currently using a Eheim 2028 & a hailea HL-BT1000 internal filter, can't think of any way to increase the water circulation unless i change to a bigger external filter which will cost me a bomb.

Probably I'll squirt them with seachem excel or trim those affect leave and let healthy leaves out grow the bba.

For water circulation, consider adding a wavemaker?

    Do you add kH powder?

    cheers

I did consider wave maker, but never got to buy it. I never like to add powders, as it is only a temp solution. However I did have coral chips in my filter.

    RowaPhos

Only thing i use. I find it highly effective in cutting down algae issues. I can't remember the size container i use, but it lasts me 12 months per tub, which i use in two 6 month periods placed within the 'sack' provided inside my filter. Reduces algae quickly in my tank and prevents for a about 5 months. After the 6 month mark i notice it starting to form again so i replace with more Very effective. Hope this helps.

Increasing CO2 can be tricky, especially if your like me and have you tank rammed full of fauna to the point where increased CO2 isnt practical. Can be quite effective though.

BBA very hard to eradicate completely
I still remember my BBA "cultivated" driftwood still has
residue after 1yr of not lighted tank enviroment.

The trick is inque, if you don't mind losing your wood for a few months (maybe a year) then you place it in a dark dark place, whether it be a room, somewhere outside, in a box...wherever! Just put it somewhere totally blacked out, dry, in an areated place. Totally kill it off outside of a watery environment! Works ok
