hi,everyone i hope someone out there can help me! ive just purchased said chiller and set it up (recommended flow rate of 250/1200 ltrs per hr)with a 1200 ltr sub pump, but its not chilling the water at all! if anything its making the tank warmer. my tank is a trigon 350 ltrs, but has about 50kgs live rock so nowhere near that amount of water after allowing for displacement, and the chiller is supposed to cope with up to 400ltrs any ideas?

Did you purchase the unit new or was it a second hand one?
If its second hand it sounds like you may need to top-up the coolant.

May I know what is the temperature set? What is the room ambient temperature and the tank temperature?
No its new, trouble is i bought it on ebay and the shop owner is ignoring my e-mails, plus i dont want the aggro of sending it back if it is something that i have overlooked in the set up. I did wander if the refridgerant had somehow escaped in transit but it seems unlikely, surely i would have noticed? THE WATER TEMP IS AROUND 27C, ROOM TEMP 23C, AND THE CHILLER IS CURRENTLY SET ON 27C, so the pump is just pumping the water through the unit, but when i tried lowering the temp of the water to check if chiller was working properly ie dropping the thermostat to 26c, although the motor kicked in and all seems to be working fine as i said the temp does not drop at all. If anything rises slightly regards colin
Chiller can not be place upside down during shipping, according to tech said this will causing the compressor fluid flow backward wrongly into the motor compartment as may harm or worse damaged the compressor (The heart of the chiller), thus buyer should let it seated still there and ignore it for an hour or so before power on the chiller. This is a must observe procedure.
Here we couldn’t really pin-point your chiller problem, you need a “eye-seeing on the spot” pro tech there, if not so the only way is you have to send the unit to your nearest LFS or pertaining work shop for more detail, since you have clarify your chiller is kick-in.
Seriously, i hope you havent given him a positive rating yet, for all you know as mentioned by alot of guys here, the compressor could be broken since its not even cooling the water running through it but warming it up.
