Oh..please don't tear it apart.I think it is looking great! Just get in there and start plucking with a pair of tweezers. Take the moss out and pull most of the ha off and, giving the moss a chance to rebound. I am setting up a new 20 gal long, and will have a similar light set up. Your blyxa is awesome. can you tell me a little more about your threadfin rainbows? No issues with them going after your shrimp or small fish?

Haha. Thanks ranmasatome and waterfaller1. I have to tear down the tank, because the current acrylic tank is very old already. Just to be safe. Also, the tank's full of plant matter and the poor fishes don't have much space to swim in.

I just bought some ADA substrate stuff and a Ocean Free braced tank from NA. Was at Biotope, but the price of ADA tanks was a major turn off. Considering I'd probably be getting my own flat in the next 5 years, this one would do. The craftsmanship is pretty good for my new tank. Really value for money. I'll trust it to stay intact!

Alright guys, I'm off to transfer my tank. Will post pictures later or tomorrow morning.

I'm just done with the new tank. No Faunas in yet. Lacking background plants

BTW, my hands itchy also. Decided to plant glosso anyway.
And guess what. I started with9 stalks of blyxa japonica. I harvested 66 stalks just now!!! Glosso was like 4 times the original amount. ROFL.

Will sell them tomorrow in the marketplace. Cheap cheap. Need to clear. lol.

Alright. Updates on my tank.

1. My New Glass tank. I admit the braces are not very pleasing to the eyes. But well... The price's less than 1/10 that of a same size ADA tank.


2. But surprisingly, the silicon work at the sides are quite well done!


3. Food for my crypts.


4. Layout of Power Sand Special. Was happily laying the Amazonia 2 when I realised I haven't took a picture of the power sand layout! So.. the power sand in the pictures is already partially covered by Amazonia II.


5. After fully covering Power Sand with Amazonia II.


6. My old trusty tank. It has served me well for years. At least I'm not throwing it away. To the person who recevied this tank: make full use of it!


7. Switching positions. Removed all plants and fauna.


8. The plants. Mum almost killed me for the mess. Just look at the Blyxas!! From 9 stlaks to 66! I think I can make a living farming them.


9. Placed the wood, and planted the hairgrass, nanas, nana petites, and flame moss.


10. The old tank resembles a barren wasteland now. Oops. There're still 2 otos in there. Lol. Taken out now.


11. Planted the Glosso. Back breaking task. Wanted to go low ligth, but cannot resist the temptation.


12. Planted the crypts, 4 talks of blyxa japonica and the long plant (dunon what its called).


13. Finally, filled with water.

The back looks empty. Anyone can recommend some suitable plants?

Any comments on the wood?

Yeah Rotala sp. green is nice especially if the tips turn pinkish... worth trying

Oh, saw you selling your tank today, figured you have managed to get a replacement glass tank instead of the original acrylics. Looking forward to how it turns out. Btw, your fishes are being housed temporary in another tank ??

Yup thanks for the suggestion, Jervis and pleco. Bought 2 species of rotala yesterday and planted them. Will post picture later in the day. Planning to switch the right wood to something taller and branchy.

Torque6: Yup. In another tank while I changed the water. Think I'll give the rummynoses and SAE to my LFS. Too active and leave-eating. Now left with 2 rams, 6 otos, 11 cardinal tetras, 5 horn nerites and quite a number of small little assorted algae eating shrimps.

Setting up a new tank with existing plant+fauna can be challenging which is why im putting off mine, I really dont want any casualties lol. My plan if i do it is to house my fishes with my existing bio filter in a bare tank with some mosses for a month. Use some existing bioplus+ceramic rings in my new tank while it cycles. But im scared my fauna wouldnt make it.

Thanks. Better to let the bit of glosso grow, than trim and trim a big patch over the next month.
