My friend whose a apisto fan told me that the quality/colour of the apisto will drop after 3 or 5 spawnings (can't remember) from the parent stock. He says that german or good breeders normally "discard" the parent stock after that no of spawns due to quality issues which i don't agree reason being that there's no inbreeding and that the only issue here will be the productivity/no of eggs laid from the parent stock will decline after a certain no of spawns.

Since i've no experience keeping apistos and there's alot of people here who not only keep a no of varieties but have also successfully bred them i believe you'll be in a better position to comment on this.

i don't think there's any scientific basis for this. if this is really so...our government's encouragement to have more kids will result in "decline in quality" of the younger kids? it doesn't make sense

maybe it more relate to breeders discards the parents when they have "aged" and produce less than expected or profitable size of brood to match the cost & time of raising the fries.
