Tarpon is a kind of fish which is silver in colour and has a very shiny appearance. Well, it can be found in LFS, but it is kind of rare.

They won't grow until very big in captivity. And they are not the saltwater tarpons. The ones i am finding is the freshwater one so they are not that big after all. Aiya, no time to fish them man.. Got examinations... hehe...

I think I might have read from somewhere that they spawn in open seas and the fries come to brackish waters to grow out. so I think there is probably one type only. But those from local regions any difference from those from america?

Yes... The local ones cannot grow to such an enormous size whereas the ones in foreign countries can.

    Hi,

I do have 3 tarpons at home. Juvenile sizes abt 3-3.5inches long. I bought them at Ben's, tiong bahru market. There are 2 shops along the same stretch, the one which closes earlier and sells shrimps is Ben's.

Tarpons looks silverish and the unique part is it has an extended piece of dorsal fin at the end. Here is the pic of what a tarpon is if anyone is curious.

    Regards,
    Brigitte
