i think flame moss would be unsuitable because of the way it grows. It grows upwards.

by the way how long has your setup been? I noticed you have a yellow lab, i'm sure it will mess up your gravel.

I recommend spreading out your japonica abit more as they grow quite wide and to use japonica only for your large foreground. Remove your yellow sucker as kuruppa indicated. Remove the rock on the left side, change your fishes to a smaller one like boraras and use less plant types in the background, you can clump some plants together to the sides, should be more than enough.

rock? are you refering to that on the white graval? and should i move my back plant to the left or right ?

as for japonica you mean it will spread all over the place? cos i still have hair grass in front... should i replant the japonica more to the back and move all the back plant in 1 place?

sorry if i don't get the right ball as i'm still a total noob about planted..

Not bad for first try bro. seems like you are trying alot of plants at one go, dont think this is advisable. Also looking at the way you plant the hairgrass, dont think you should plant in such a big portion. Usually most people will split it into plants of ~ 3-5 leaves and plant it into the substrate.

Correct me if i am wrong in any points put forward, I am also a newbie in the planted scene.

    Cheers

You mentioned that this is a low-tech setup. Do you mean that it is low light without CO2? If so, I am afraid that some of the plants will not be able to make it.

ya should be low light without co2... by the way which plant will not make it? should i add some co2 tablet in order for them to grow well? acutally i notice some of my plant start to turn abit brownish and dull..and by the way low light= to what watt then can consider llow light?

If you want low light, low tech, then as Jacian mentioned, some plants may not make it. Ludwigia grandulosa (the red stem plant), Glosso, and to some extent Blyxa Japonica may not survive for long. Your glosso will certainly start "standing up".

In terms of scaping, I think it is not too bad for a start, but once you understand the way plant grows, you will know what needs to be done. Personally, I will move the blyxa away from the white sand bank since, if they survive and grow, it will become bushy and block the white sand which I believe you intend for it to be seen. I will perhaps swap the position of the blyxa on the right hand side with the glosso for a start and also move the moss pebble to the front.

But as mentioned, I think it is a great first scape and as you learn more about the plants, you scape will improve. Just my two cents worth.
