    Hi everyone,

i have gotten a teco ra240 chiller to cool my 3 ft tank .

with the lights off, it can cool to 26 C and turns off for 1 hr and then back on for about 2hrs to get the temp back to 26C.... with my 1 x 150W MH light on , the temp goes up to 27C ... and the chiller is on as long as the MH is on ..... it will take another 2-3 hrs to get the temp back to 26C.

just like to know if this is normal ?

any guys with chillers at home pls let me know if this is normal or my chiller needs some maintainence .

how about other chillers ? Hailea , Eido , Resun ?

how do they fare and where can i get hold of specs about them ?

    thanks

    i think that is normal.
chillers will cool the tank water to a low temperature limit and switch off. when tank water temperature increases pass the high limit, the chiller will switch on again.

without the mh light, your tank water will gain heat from the surrounding if room temperature is above 26degc. this will be the case mostly.

when mh is switched on, your chiller is running continuously means that the chiller do not have enough cooling capacity. the heat absorbed from the mh lamp exceeds the cooling capacity.

the time taken to get the tank temperature back to 26degc depends on the chiller capacity, tank water temperature when chiller is switched on and surrounding room temperature.

    Phang,
The chiller is working as it suppose to be as Tawauboy explained.

    JFYI,
It would be a good idea to monitor the water temperature using a thermometer. Do not rely on the reading on the display as they tend to be different compared to the tank water.
    Cheers!!
