    Hi everybody,

Can you guys help pin point where's not right in my CRS keeping ? Can't seem to breed even low grades in my tank man Btw, this tank is recently set up is about 2 months old already. But i don't see impregnation taking place.

    Size: 1 feet cube
    Filter: Hang On Filter
    Lighting: Clip on light (24/7)
    Cooling Media: Fan (24/7)
Filter Mediums: Normal White Sponge & Coral Chips
Substrate: GEX Red Pack 1+ inch in the tank
    Temperature: 25-24 degree celsius
pH: 7.0- 7.5 (fluctuates very often and used to be 5.1 initially)
Flora: Taiwan Moss as lawn only
Fauna: CRS (approximately 35+ with a mix of 15 big sized adults and 20 juveniles) , Sakuras Shrimps (20+ tiny babies), Cherries Shrimps (>10 babies), Bumble Bee Snails (4) and random snails (alot.).
Feeding: (3-4 times a week, very minimum flake food for guppies)

Are this all suitable for CRS? If so, then i guess i plain impatient please advise.

Oh yes some blurry pictures taken from my macbook.

yeah man. mine was pH 5.1 and thought it was too acidic. so i added coral chips then it went higher. thought i can keep at 6.5 but i didn't manage to. so now its pH 7-7.5

reduce the amount of coral chip to lower the ph back to 6.5 but do this bit by bit as you won't want to cause a ph spike.

maybe there is not enough hiding place too from what i can see. perhaps a driftwood would help. as your tank is too "open"

lastly, any females in the tank in the first place lol..if not females then can't expect pregnant shrimps lol..

    just my 2 cents

    Hi zoombee,

ok, will take coral chips out bit by bit.

what you say its true. i don't have much hiding places except that bushy taiwan moss in the middle. i'll try get a medium sized piece with moss to add to my collection.

there are females actually, i went to 618 and got those pregnant with eggs before, hatch in my mini guppy tank then i took it out to put in this cube tank. so i believe the sexes are quite balanced.

    Thks for the advise.

take the coral chip bit by bit and monitor the ph as you take it out to prevent a ph spike.

probably a driftwood with moss tied on it would be a better hiding place than a bushy moss.

just trying to help ..hope my advise is useful

Hi I'm the owner of the tank! Btw think that is Taiwan Moss if I'm not wrong. It has triangular fronds when bushy.

    update

    Hi Everyone,

Just wanna update, i've added drift wood in my 1 feet cube. I'm a newbie in aqua-scape so bear my the ugly design. Anyway, the shrimps have never seen such a huge amusement park before! like kids deprived of playground, all were climbing around it and i could see the females venturing in. hope this works! wooohooo!

again, my blurry pics from my macbook. enjoy!

I cant see the picture properly but from what I see, I cant find any hiding spots for the shrimps. Perhaps you want to place your driftwood lying so that hiding grounds could be created for the shrimps..

oh ok. haha, i scared my moss will be flattened by the huge area of drift wood. moreover there're holes in which they climb into, guess that will be the hiding place for the shrimps for now. maybe i'll get another smaller drift wood to place on the present one to make more hideouts.

    Thanks for the advise

lying down this piece of driftwood would really create a hiding place for them better.

nice to see your crs interacting with the wood
