hey peeps
im really new into this .. and today is day 3 since i started cycling my new tank (20L only).. no fishes yet just plants.. proper lighting.. filter..
though i hope to get a couple of algae eaters, shrimp and snail maybe.. and more plants next week.. a fan is also to be on my to-buy list since the temp in my room is ard 27-28deg.. hoping to achieve 25-26..

i hope to achieve a easy-to-maintain well planted aquarium with a school of tetra perhaps?

anyway is it normal to see alot of foam on the surface at the start??

Hi, Welcome to AQ!

For your new tank, you may like to put in some beneficial bacteria (can get from LFS) to kick start the cycling process. Or put in some water from another established tank.

The foam is likely from your sand. Some dirt and dust perhaps. Will clear.

Enjoy your stay and don't forget to post photo of the tank!

Hi juggler. Thanks for the reply. I assume LFS = Local Fish Shop? Pardon me if I got it wrong. And yes, the foam has more or less cleared by now. Will try to post a picture of my tank as soon as possible. Also I realized that Juggler's tanks links to a NTU-related website so I assume you are from the same school as me. A note, my tank is in my hostel room so there are various limitations. And just want to let you know that your tanks look awesome! Hope to learn a lot more from you and others around here! This is going to be so interesting..
