If you know you are in the hobby "long term" I'd suggest the Eheim 2028 any day.
Why, you ask?
The price differential between the 2026 and 2028 is marginal.
The cost of operation is the same, power and wool cost.
The filter "lasts forever", spare parts easily avialable.
The extra tray for bio media goes a long way, practically doubles bio-filtration.
Size of tank doesn't really matter as the flow rate is adjustable (I run one on a 57L Fiveplan tank).
Just MHO after "inheriting" one of each from a hobbyist bowing out.
The only reason I can think of choosing a 2026 over a 2028 is the size of the filter.
For instance, If you have space constraint like cabinet size.

2028 sounds good.
But then again i am thinking to switch over to fluval after using 2 sets of 404 for my 6ft tank. I kind of feel that the filter is working better than my previous ehiem 2028. And it cost like only 1/3 of the price. Also fluval got 3 years warranty.

Ops, I didn't know your tank is 3 feet(sorry for the wrong recommendation).
If 02 x fluval 404 works well for your 6ft tank, I think you can stick to one fluval for your 3 feet. Nevertheless, I will prefer to use Ehiem products because of more replaceable accessories and its reliability.

Pepe,
Do you put moss in your sterbai tank? That might be useful for them to breed and hide their eggs in.

Have some christmas moss in there. But still sparse hoping that the moss will grow soon.

basically what do you need for a cory breeding tank?

I have seen corydoras breeding in bare tanks with nothing but water in them. So i guess all you need is good water and a ready pair of male and female.

Huh? Corydoras breeding in bare tank? Don't they eat the eggs after they breed? Actually until now, I still do not know if corydoras eat their own eggs or not. Shame on me.![]()

I saw the setup in a farm which i visited last time. And there they were breeding their corydoras in bare tanks. But they might remove the parents after they breed. That i am not too sure.
