i dunno abt others but i feed every 3rd day or twice a week. Some will say once every 2 weeks- but i'm doing a trial by calc digestion rate of the anemone single way stomach.so far its growing in size within weeks on this feeding schedule.
If u stick to once a week is good enough.
Feed Small pieces of market prawn(a $2 pkt from supermarket last abt 1 month in freezer).
one piece per anemone & watch it swallow(if that's the word). If it doesn't take in the food then find other types of food to feed.
i have 2 rose anemone,1 sand anemone & a big local anemoneabt 10cm(haven't id yet cause just got it some weeks ago from sealife)already skunk clown in it.
Thanks Bdwater, May I know how much you bought your rose anemone ? Actually, I only got one large anemone (red colour) bought purposely for my pair Golden strip Maroon Clown and they love it so much that both of them play around the anemone almost all the time except feeding time where they rush for the food. I will be a getting a digital camera soon and perhaps take some picture for you to help me to identify ok ?
As of now, I think I will feed once a feed.
Oh ya, what is the tell-tale sign of a dying anemone ?

I feed my anemone every other day!!!
I just cut bloodworm cubes into 4 and put it right into the center.
Also feed Plankton tabs from Sera.
Lyon © I would rather walk a thousand leagues then to see your ugly face
i would recommend defrozing the cube of brine shrimps, mysis shrimp or BW before feeding them.. anemones can go without food for a few days.. abt twice a week will do.

I suggest you do a immediate 20% water change. I believe the nitrate level in your tank has raise and that explain why your anemone shrunk.
It happened to my anemone too. But after I changed the water, it is ok now.
Hi,
Guys, maybe you can also try the new shop-farm which I had found out recently at Lim Chua Kang which they have excellent qualities of MARINE FISHES & INVERTERBRATES (from Brazil, Indonesia & elsewhere) at reasonable prices. A guy called Bac is an experience man who can give good advices.
The shop-farm is immediately after the Kranji Reservoir, turn to the right lane and you will come to the "Sungei Buloh Nature Park" and they are just a few units after the park. The address & contacts are as follows:-

Bawater,
I'm new here & new with anemone. Always wanted to keep one for my maroon clown. But heard that it crawls all over the place, killing other corals. Or worse, got suck into the powerhead. Is that true? Thanks.
Hi X-fish,
Yah, my first one kena sucked into powerhead.too stupid lah, left the inlet unguarded. As long as you have grilles on the inlet it shouldn't be a problem.
Now for the crawling-around issue. Some species are reported to be more active than others, but from my own exp. carpet anemones don't really move around too much. Get them a very brightly-lit position with moderate water flow and they should be happy enough not to move around too much. However, I read of a little trick on the reefkeeper's listserver, what some people do is that they allow the anemone to attach themselves to very roughly-shaped LR - the rocks on the side of it's base supposedly gives it a sense of security. To improvise on that some reefers stack a small circle of rocks around the base of the anemone. I havent tried this myself, but if the anemone's really causing a lot of trouble by moving around it may be worth giving it a try.
Good luck!![]()

anemones can do without a clown and vice versa.. but it is the symoptic relationship that makes it interesting. the reason why it moves ard is because the position that u want it to be, cannot meet all its requirements of strong lights, current. it will attempt to move abt until it finds the location that meets its requirements.. yes, i experienced my anemone being sliced up by the powerhead.. definitely a worrying thing if u have anemone and powerhead to produce current. anemones like carpet anemone or blanket anemone have very powerful stings that can kill other corals that stands in its ways to secure the perfect spot.
