Amazing growth... how often do you trim/cut your plants? How often does your chiller kicks-in?
My first aqua plant setup since christmas'07, converted from my 3 yrs marine fish tank. getting messy now after 2 months.
This my setup:
300L tank (4ft)
Co2 - 24hrs @ 2 bps
Light 38W x 4 on for 8 hrs daily (with reflectors)
Chiller at 26 degree
1 external filter
100 cardinal tetra
50 cherry shrimps
2 otos
-"Japanese grass" not growing, weak leaves
- prawns seems losing numbers (hardly see all, only about 10 visible, not spawning)
- plant grow too fast and tall.
critics welcome...

I trim the leaves 2 weeks ago, and add some new plants 1 week ago.
only 1 weeks it shoots up...with long stem, so ugly, maybe light intensity not enough.
i did not count how many times my chiller kick in, probably 4 to 5times a day I think.

Wow! In just two months, your glosso covered the ground! I just planted mine 2 days ago. Hope in two month's time, it'll be as dense as yours! By the way, what temperature did you set your tank at?
Cheers,
Sean
My temperature set at 26 degree
Enough lighting intensity is necessary for glosso to grow, if too low it will all stand up and grow slowly, from my experience. I use 2x38 watts initially but it starts growing after I add 2 reflector, making it to about 150 watts before I see many O2 bubbles emmiting. After that you will see it creeping on the foor bed very fast.
I think Co2 also important for its growth.
thanks cosmoman
Oh dear... I'm only using 2X36w pl. They're housed in a casing, so I can't really add reflectors can I? Tall glossos are really quite ugly IMO.
Anyhow, well done! All that in just 2 months.![]()
Cheers,
Sean
hmmm...maybe your casing have reflective inbuilt, you have to observe it a while first. I am not expert as I am new here, just share my experience with you.
where can i see you tank? Is it posted here?

It's here. I did some replanting recently, but have yet to take pictures of the tank.
The glossos are not planted yet in the pictures.

Anyone experience same problem as my Jewel tank?
After 3 yrs of salt water, I cannot remove the white stain, curently I use for my plant tank already, anyone have any method to clean the glass stain.
I tried using pen knife, and vineger with table salt but unsuccessful.![]()
My cherry shrimps hatching, wonder shrimplets can be successfully birth...pray hard
Very nice!!! Bro is your tank the newer generation Juwel with High-Lite? How come you have 4 tubes? Can show pix of your lid and lighting?
hehe, I hide the ugly lights shots, I show you the actual view, the original lights I put the front of the tank, the behind is add on.
I saw Jewel website selling 4 lights also, but I think need to change the whole top light holder. My tank bought 3 years ago, I don't think its the new high-lite
Cheers

Hi seniors
Glosso seems so thick, I think about more than 5 layers stacking, is it necessary to remove some layers?
Also thought of trimimng all the plants to half tank height, but concern to disturb the fish and prawns, 1 of the rummy nose tetra seems pregnant, shall I leave the plants there for them to breed, or rather it won't breed in tank?
cheers
Yeah your Glosso is a little scary![]()
Yeah...scary...
next time anyone want to plant glosso, better keep it 1 inch or more apart, to prevent space hunting, hiaz
I see the tummy big and fat, maybe it is pregnant I think, as the other mates are very slim.
As for glosso, once it grow, seems not able to control, need experience senior here for advice on how to maintain without damaging the carpet appearance.
I am sure yours will be blooming soon, thanks for visiting me and your comments, you are such a nice guy
Thanks
I think your rummy nose is just fat. All my rummy noses have big tummies after feeding time.![]()
Cheers,
Sean
