but i fear they don't grow well due to their demanding temp requirement...
can someone advise me on whether its alright to grow them in such conditions?

I'm not sure how much a 8 blade ac fan will cost but I'm using 4 inch square cooling fans which I bought from the hardware shops around Kelantan Lane. They cost about $25 each. I use 3 for my 4 feet tank but it's overkill. 2 should be enough. For a 2 feet tank, one should do the job.
The christmas moss used to grow so well in my tanks I gave away several kilograms of it to people all over the world. But don't ask me for some. I have very little left. Sorry.

Hiz, saw the x-moss at GEN-X growing very well at 30 degree. The one they tie on gravel filter as background grow very thick n nice. Saw the thermometer there 30 degree. Has anyone else success at this 29-30 degree temperature with x-moss ??? Give some tips ? I also going to try x-moss as background. Is there anything i have to look out for ? Thankz
I've heard many people claiming that they can grow the christmas moss at temperatures of 30 C. But frankly, I've yet to see such a thing.
I believe in most, if not all cases, the thermometer is off. Most thermometers sold in fish shops are not accurate and can easily be one or 2 degrees off. If you don't believe me, ask the fish shop owner to show you all his thermometers and compare them. You will find they all give different temperatures.

Not backdrop lah. It's known as a "moss wall".
If it interests anybody, the term "moss wall" was coined by my friend who lives in the US of A. Daphne Freeman was the first person to call a moss backdrop or moss background as a moss wall. Moss wall sounds a lot nicer, don't you think?

My tank temp is 29-30 degrees and my moss now resembles a mess of tangled wires. It's still green, but not doing well. Most of the tanks that I've seen with nice moss have temps about 26-27 degrees.
yeah thats what i'm worried about...
i'm thinking of using alot of fans then temp might go down more...
like this then at the most top up water more often...

Heard chan saying that after a certain number of fans you add the deg will not drop i forget it was like 4 . It will maintant at that temp , if air con is switch on he even say can reach a temp of 21 deg(Coldddd)
I guess if you switch on your fan 24/7 it will maintant at a certain deg not too much changes.

if i ON/OFF with the lights, temp shoot to 30deg cel.
Ryan - just one question - how are you securing the moss onto the wall? I did my with fishing line alone - and they're staying so far. don't have to get mesh, IMO.
sorry just another thing - my tank is a 4 footer with 220W of lights, with my 6 DC fans the temp doesn't go beyond 28. @ night even drop to 26. why not switch on the lights in the evening when it's cooler? that's what I'm doing from 5pm to 3am - so I can see them when I'm home and working late at night[
think i'll use a stapler...----------------

but how big is your dc fan?
where did u get it from?
power consumption high to run all day?
compared to ac fan?

Ryan, I got my taiwan moss from Chan. Dun know what it really is - is it Xmas moss or another species of moss? but looks dense and dark green - so will try it out anyway. It's a good thing I did not silicon my moss wall to the aquarium - in fact, it was the last thing I added to my tank. A bit tough, but with Amidala's help - we did it! secured it with binder clips - the type you find in stationery shops [
Think my DC fans not as powerful as AC fans - not so noisy too. bought mine from Chan's a 6-fan system 24/7
