ok i dont know if this is the correct place to post this, but i seriously need some advice from fellow bros regarding my plan to rescape my 3ft. i have been thinking about this for quite a while and i give myself 2 choices.

1) using just white sand and lots of driftwood with moss tied to it to sort of mimic an underwater view of tree roots and fish will be like 'exploring' the jungle of moss.

pros: easy to keep for me , no need for dosing and also no need to trim, or rather that often.

cons: cost of buying the driftwoods and time to tie the moss.

2)instead of just white sand, about 1/3 of the tank will be filled with GEX substrate to grow crypt and i will only have one 2.5ft long driftwood pointing diagonally from one corner of the tank, but im not sure whether dosing is needed to keep them nice and healthy. i will be providing CO2 and lighting is 108W over the 3ft which is approximately 81L. can someone clarify this doubt? if dosing is needed, maybe i will choose to use rotala and ludwigia species and blyxa japonica instead.

pros: nicer and should be cheaper since if i want to buy nicely shape driftwood, i will either have to pay more for one or buy quite a few and place them together.

cons: if dosing is a must to keep the crypts or ludwigia and rotala plants nice and healthy looking, it will be a problem cos i will be enlisting in about a month's time, unless its possible to dose just during the weekends using EI method.

ok so which choice is better in terms of convenience and less maintenance needed? or how can it be easier to maintain?
