vurbul's nano HC tank

Tried growing HC emmersed after 2 failed attempts at growing them submersed. I managed to get a nice carpet after 3 months of emmersed growth. Its a 10 litre tank with Gex substrate and 18 watts of PL lights. HC growth was initially very slow for the first 2 months but took off after that. I think its time now to flood the tank.

After the water is in,



I use water and filter from another tank. Blast in co2 at 2bps. 1ml of wondergro macro and 0.5 ml of wondergro micro was added.(Thanks unkle ben, nice meeting you earlier)



HC pearling after about 2 hours.

I hope this won't be another failure.

thanks bro for the encouragement...in submersed form for hc is co2 a must?
anyone succeeded without co2?

Thanks torque. Yes the effort has really paid off. I made sure that the substrate is always wet and I mist the tank twice a day. It is sure rewarding.

Now the next challenge is to make sure that algae is kept to minimum. My second try on HC ended up like krabbie's tank. Got attacked by brown hair algea. I'm going to do 2x50% weekly water change as what Peter has suggested.

I've read on APC that someone has succeded with only excel. But since my light is rather high, I opted for co2 injection. Really saves the hassle.

If I'm not wrong HC won't do well without co2.

Way to go! Took me a couple of tries to get my semi high tech tank to run well too. Good thing we have AQ to turn to if we needed good advise.
