I'm wondering where does those missing shrimps gone to ? If the shrimp is dead I will noticed it lying on the bottom of the subtrate. But lately it seems like my shrimp population is getting lesser but apparently no dead carcases. So where does those shrimps gone to ? I've got no fishes in the tank. Only snails and one otto. Are they eaten up by the leeches ?

Look around your aquarium to see if there is any " Hei bi" - dried shrimps. May have crawled out of your tank.

The live ones will feed on the dead ones.
I started off with 30 CRS and now left with none. I don't even see the dead bodies. The cherries eat them all up.

    trevally,

Tank size and the number and types of shrimps might help your questions...
This may help suspect eaten bodies or something else.

I did come across a post regarding disappearing shrimps.
Some thing as you, no bodies etcetera.
Eventually the hobbyist found the culprit.
It was a smart gecko that figure out where to fish for shrimps.
Apparently the shrimp converge at the top of the piping to get at the surface flim.
That's when it struck... slurp... and they go to heaven filling a gecko's tummy along the way.

Hungry shrimp and planaeria will make dead shrimps disappear within hours.

Even if they are not eat, at 24/25C, it take just 2 to 3 days to detingrate a shrimp and at hotter temperature, the rate of decompose is even faster.

I just had this same problem. Recently just added 10 Yamato in the tank to clear some hair algae. I brought 4 at the fist go and QT then in a small tank with my main tank water. They are fine after a week. Then I put them into the main tank and they disappeared. Have not seem them out in the open simply MIA. The same happen for the next 6 ones i added in.
No carcasses just missing. Very unlikely that all 10 die at the same time or eaten by gecko or came out of the tank.
My tank is 3 feet heavily planted. anyone knows why?

Or maybe eaten by cichlids. I saw my ram eating a cherry shrimp with my own eyes.

I used to have a less than 1FT tank however i just couldnt find my missing yamotos when it went missing.

Couple of months back, i had my cherries died on me and a few yamotos were waiting on standby besides it complete with fork, knifes and napkins.

Now that you mentioned it, no wonder i had a few gecko waiting besides my tank wall previously, I posted this that lizards ate my shrimps but no one believed me..
