I got a friend who needs some input. He is thinking about having a 9 feet custom made tank installed. Depth x height not yet decided. Freshwater/saltwater not decided but I think he is leaning towards planted freshwater. However, he is nervous about the maintenance issue - Does anybody know of a company in Singapore that will do weekly maintenance? Any idea about a ballpark figure?
Can anybody give some pointers on what to look out for before setting out on such a grand experiment?
- dimension - what would be recommended for 9 feet
- support - can it take the weight
- drainage
- space for filters (how many?)
- type of lights
- etc.
- etc.
- cost? anybody who dares to throw up a ballpark for a - let's say - 9x2x2 fully planted tank from scratch with all in? :-)
Sorry for the very early email on this, but need to get some feel for the first couple of steps and how easy/difficult it may be before he is willing to launch this project.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If it gets up and running it could be another good aquascaping "saga" to follow on this site.
