Good news coming one after another. First my german rams spawned then I woke up and realised i gotten myself a new job. Then today my sterbais spawned! The female was so cute holding the eggs with her fins and sticking the eggs all over the tank. They are still spawning as of now. And i have a few videos which i am uploading now to share my joy with everyone! Hang on..........videos on the way!

I had to disturb the spawning due to netting out a hungry apisto following the female eating the eggs as she deposits them. But about 3 mins after netting out the apisto the sterbai are at it again! Thank god.

Sorry about the shaky hands. Trying very hard not to disturb them.
I need to check with more experienced keepers. Do i need to remove the eggs? WIll the other corydoras or the parents eat the eggs?

This is a nice clip and hilarious too!!
It looked like you were doing "cover and filming" hiding behind the anubias.
Were there eggs when you focused on the Heineken bottle?
    Or is that your reward?

    Congrats on the spawn!

Sorry about the heineken distraction. To be frank halfway while taking the video i saw the heineken bottle and had the thought that it would be great to celebrate with a ice cold heineken.
Well jokes aside. I was like half prone and squatting and like you said i took cover behind the nanas to avoid spooking them while they are in the act.

Looks like later i will have to conduct a search party for eggs.

Wow, spawning already? That's fast. Looks like you have quite a lot of fishes in there. Don't know if they will eat the eggs or not.

Will be getting more floating breeding cages later to house the eggs. How i wished that i could have more space to setup another tank to house the eggs.
I have already netted out the apistos into floating cages. Hopefully the other sterbais in the tank will leave the eggs alone long enough for me to get back with the new breeding traps.

Congrats!! Looks like you 'investment' paid off very quickly.

I would suggest to remove all other tankmates and you should be fine. By the way, once they start spawning, you have a spawning group. They will be going at it for quite some time if you don't disturb the group.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Now i have a very big problem. Which is i do not have enough tanks to move the other tankmates to. Never expected them to breed so fast. Really caught me off guard.

So benny you are saying that i can leave the eggs with the parents and other sterbais? Will they eat up the eggs?

No. They do not. Other fishes like dwarf cichlids and even plecos (some species) will eat the eggs.

I think the only safe tank mates are fishes like hatchet fishes and rocket pencils. If you don't need them, then don't add.

But there might be a problem if i do not remove the eggs. How can i feed the babies when they hatch? Will a couple of royal whiptails be a threat to the eggs and young when they hatch?
Really a headache now. Thinking of removing the eggs which i can see to a floating breeding trap.

Put a big wad of moss in the tank. The fry wil hide there and feed there. When they grow slightly bigger, feed with baby brine shimp or finely chopped tubifex worms. One of our forumers also sell worm culture which you can buy and use. Check the marketplace.

Do increase aeration. I will setup an extra airpump and place the airstone near the trap.
