Got it from Biotope... but it can be quite an eyesore on Moss

Only $400+ for a Solaris? Or are you referring to the 9" Galileo? It will be interesting to witness plant growth and colouration under LEDs

    Another good and bad news...

Good: Hairgrass runners can be seen on all sides... they are spreading

Bad: I have not gotten my Yamato shrimps yet... still can see algae

My first TOP VIEW pix... Blyxa japonica

Another top angle shot showing the back portion of my tank... what you guys think?

The discoloured (yellowish) part of the red stem plant is a result of me trimming the top... you can see their trimmed top at the lower portion where I plan to cultivate. No that's a odd looking plant... hitchiker

try to remove the algea manually.. anyway... i guess that plant is E.tenellus.. not hair grass.. HG don't have such thick stems.. but i might be wrong though.

400+ is for the ada solaris light fitting, its used together with the mini-S and mini-M cube garden tanks. Its powered with a 27W light.

the foreground is hairgrass not tenellus. you can see it from the baby shoots that just grow out.

it's better for you to remove the string algae on top of the moss. it's a weed. i think it is known as bladderwort weed.it belongs to the Utricularia species and it is a carnivorous plant.

it don't look like HG to me.. HG suppose to have thin stems and their stems are straight up. not curved down. maybe thats japanese hairgrass? cause im pretty sure thats not the normal hairgrass.

    Ok bro... will do that!

Went to Artfriend today and bought a piece of 2mm clear acrylic for tank cover... will have to dig out my acrylic cutter to make way for the pipings & etc.

    Update...

Added 5 Yamato shrimps and a couple of Sakura shrimps today... can see that they are really excited by what seems like never-ending source of food

I am particularly pleased with the runners and root systems of my Japanese HG

oh i see, you were also using Jap variant HG, same as me, but you're having far greater success than what i have currently in my tank.

I've had 2 pots of them from y618 some time back in Sep, its already march and i've lost about 1 pot, though after injecting co2, i have had a bit of success.

Guess having the right equipment is critical in helping these plants flourish in our tank. Really cannot believe everything from tropica which indicated them as easy to grow. lol.

These Japanese HG is not really that easy... I have a large portion of them covered with algae Hopefully the introduction of Yamato and Sakura will make a difference

dont worry too much about the alage! You got yamatos to do the job...if you can , just add another couple of SAE or otto. Your tank will be soon alage free in no time.
    cheers
