Differences between Betta macrostoma from Burnei and Sarawak?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone here keeps a Betta macrostoma from Burnei? Care to show off?
Funny thing that I read was that people who had macs from Burnei said the macs from Sarawak is nicer and vice versa.
The only difference that I've seen were macs with double back blotches and an array of golden specks on the dorsal. Want to get one of this someday.

Maybe you guys could show off your macs with locality. With lots of entries, this thread at least to me or mac collectors will be mouth watering.

I'll start the ball rolling. You guys could have seen mine before. There're not enough golden specks or very faded on the dorsal fin.

I tried comparing the Brunei strain from a breeder website in Brunei and I don't see much difference. Suggest you try to post at Bettabite. There are a few "sifu" that may answer your question.

Brunei and Sarawak is just so near and I believe the macs are quite the same. I did spot the irrids on the anal fin of the Brunei strain that I don't see in most pictures posted. Here's the link:http://uk.geocities.com/mohdnooradnin/

Burnei strain do cost more so would like to see what's the deal.

I think the cost has more to do with it being protected in Brunei, anyone who wants to collect and keep them would need permission from the Sultan of Brunei. However, that probably doesn't deter things from slipping under the radar. Hence the price tag on the Brunei locality.

All being said, I am still curious to the locality dimorphism, if any, of the fish.

I see. So that means any Tom, Dick, Harry can keep a Burnei mac as long as the Sultan approves or is it restricted to some?

Are you referring to the blue trimings on the anal fins? Mine do have but not as brilliant as the trimings on the dorsal.

Yes. I don't have a mac to up close observe. It's from the pictures I see.
