No problem. Lots of hiding places in the form of plants, driftwood, pots etc is recommended for a pair of Apistogrammas.

hi guys, just got the female from chongyu yesterday.. size of it was almost 3 times smaller than my male(guess my male eat alot of NLS and grew fast) was happy to see the female having a slight red colour on its body and fin.. rather then the colourless look.
i guess it will need at least another 2 or 3 months then its ready to breed..
meanwhile its hiding alot.. maybe she is trying to avoid the male who kept flaring at her

once in a while she will come out.. but always get chased by the male

That is why providing hiding place as mentioned by limchongyu is recommended.

yup.. i don't have to worry because my blyxa japonica is very very think and bushy.. i cant even spot the male if he go into hiding..

anyway, female and male eating well.. but i have to throw the NLS infront of them and only when they see it then they eat it..

haha you should be glad that your pair is exhibiting normal behaviour! once they settle down in the tank, i'm sure you'll experience the joy of raising up apisto fries! enjoy your pair and take good care of them! do update us constantly!

Hi hope you like the pair. Do look out for signs of injuries and stress though. There may be lots of blyxa to hide in but Apistos can be quite persistent in their aggression.

i guess the agression as somehow stop.. the male seeing the female coming out.. also never chase... so far no fin torn or injuries on the female...

update: this morning found the male on the floor, water parameters was all the same.. was damn sad to see it on the floor just now.. i still have the female though..
now i guess i can either sell the female and get another pair of apisto or search for another male to pair up with this girl..
    sigh..
was wondering why a apisto will suddenly jump?

bro very sad to hear that. its hard to lose a fish you really like. cheer up. i guess if YOU don't really like then sell the female and make way for another type of apisto.. and the tank had BBA right? so give YOU a chance to revamp.

    cheers bro
