what kind of algae you have and whats your tank specs
try to ID the root problem 1st
its always recommended to solve the problem at the root of the cause rather than thinking of having an easy-way-out "magic" algae remover solution
Hi all,
Anyone use ISTA algae remover from tzong-yang before?C328 owner recommend it to me over Azzo and ocean free one.
He said that he used it before. The main advantage of this brand its that it claim that its harmless to water plant, fishes and nitrifying bacteria...the last one is the most ipt to me.
Azzo and ocean free algae remover state that it will kill off bacteria in the filtration system,as such i dont dare to use them...I try shrimp, lot of SAE,black out mthd but all dun reali work well for me...
I even put in Azzo ph6,8 that remove excessive nitrate and phosphate but the algae growth continue......so just will like to check whther any of u tried the ISTA brand b4...before i use it...pretty exp too

I used Azzo algea remover and it killl all my hair algea , i find it ok =) , so far so good
algae remover might remove the algae but it does not root the problem unless the cause it identidied. Else the algae will keep coming back.
Hi,
I hvae black spot alage (black beard alage???) on some of my plants especially my sword....tihnk it because I replanted my tank n some of the base fertiliser leach out to the water...I using azzo base booster.
My tank is 3feet X1.5feetX1.5 feet...After minus the subsrate,i shall hv ard 130Litre of water...Every week I dose 5ml of"Easy Life ProFito" (All in one fertiliser)and 3 days later,I will dose 5ml of "Leaf Zone" (For Iron and potassium) with 5ml of either "Flourish trace": or Ocean free "Absolute trace elemenst)...So dont know whether it is a overkill but my dosage is less than half the recommended vol of fertiliser alreadi...
Light is 9hr (4X54W Hi O/P T5 light) and CO2 supply at 25bps.Tank is quite heavily planted.Suspect because I wash my canister filter at around same time and lead to alage bloom...basically I juz want to remove all the alage ist....
Anyone think I dose too much fertiliser or?I even try putting Azzo 6,8 PH to remove excessive nirtate etc...but nt working and 7 ottos,3 golden AE and 3 SAE.But nt working...
thank
Hi blackjack
I do not recommend you using any chemicals (alage remover) will destroy all your beautiful shrimps, snails and good bacteria. I had tried AZZO once and i threw it away when all my shrimps and snails been culled!
If you can go natural , buy 100 malaya shrimps and 10 big yamatos ( not small type) , change water (1/2 tank) weekly and use brown peats media, an excellent aglae reducer( for filter canister) will do the a beautiful job!
Black beard, hairy and so on will soon vanish within 1-2 weeks!
Try to reduce your fertiliser dosage(each brand separately) should be 10ml in every 3weeks.
hope this will help you.
I agree with eddy, using commercial to get rid of algae problems doesn't resolve these issues. Of course, if you are dealing with cynobacteria then you have no choice.
Anyone has success with this product so far? I resorted to getting this since AlgExit is out of stock here on our sunny shores.
