    Hi,

Just to share my joy and sadness. My Ivanacara adoketa spawned last week and the eggs hatched into fries. The sad thing is that the most fries were eaten up and I have to remove the balance 4 out of the tank. They still have the egg sac on them.

Here are some photos taken late last week and 1 showing the fries (2 days ago). Sorry for the blurr photos. Hope the balance 4 fries can survive.

I am not sure if the parents ate the fries now. There is only one parent guarding the fries and when I saw 4 remaining on the small pot, I siphoned them out into a smaller tank. Last night, I saw another 5 more. Could be hidden by the guarding parent.

They are about one year old now. There are 4 adults in the same tank, 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 ft tank, plus 2 small Oscars. When I noticed that the 2 Oscar were badly beaten up, then I saw the eggs outside the pot. 2 of the Adoketa were at one corner and the third one is in the pot and only one guarding the eggs. I would assume that the one in the pot and the guarding eggs one are the parents. The Oscars and the other 2 Adoketa have been removed out from the tank.

    Hi,

Here are some photos taken few days back. They are all free swimming. They are the one hidden by their parents which I thought were all eaten by them. Estimate to be about 30 fries.

Any advice whether I should remove the fries from the parents so the parents may breed again? The earlier 4 fries which I removed are all doing fine too.

Are you sure it's really a wild caught N.Adoketa ??? I got a very strong feeling that it's a bred pair of N.Adoketa...or what you saw is for 1pcs only and not a pair??? Can anyone comfirm?? At that price...it's really really cheap for a wild pair!!!! Hummm....it's really tempting...

Hi Milk, bred Adoketas don't cost that much these days.
    Don't get too excited..
It's NOT "Chee lick", NOT "Chee Chee Licks"!!! Cichlids is pronounced as "Sick Lids"!!!!!

Yup...I do notice and noted that breed N.Adoketa shouldn't cost that much..What got me excited is that a "wild pair" of N.Adoketa cost around S$1k...That's why i'm so excited!
