hi guys, would like to ask.. since biohome claims that it remove nitrite and nitrate.. if i add them into a high tech tank.. with high co2, high lighting and also daily fert dosage.. will the biohome "sucks" in the no3 im dosing and left no ferts for the plants?
I think it may be a false claim. BB can only convert NH4 > NO2 > NO3 > plants take up abit then rest gets accumulated. By the instructions written on the box, i think it meant, it can help reduce NO3 by already reducing NH4 and NO2, thus NO3 will be lesser of course.

I may be wrong. I believe NO3 is already the basic. Don't think biohome can convert NO3 anymore. And BBA is ready to pounce if no plants could ..Water change please

Im also using biohome plus in my gex tank, theres no indication they remove NO3 ....

Actually, NO3 can be removed by bacteria, but those are bacteria that live under anaerobic conditions.
So, can Biohome provide an anoxic environment for the bacteria to thrive and help remove NO3? Biohome claims to be be able to do so as mentioned on their website (see the picture).
Though this is their claim, I don't know for sure and I am not about to just leave the removal of NO3 to the bacteria. Since it can be removed via plants and water changes, I just grow my plants well and perform the regular maintenance. Besides, water changes are not just about removing the NO3 alone, they also remove and dilute other impurities.
However, if you wish to know for certainty if the claims are up to expectation or not, then some rigid series of scientific tests or experiments would be necessary to draw your own conclusion.
Anyone can enlighten me on why is biohome costs so much more than other ceramic rings?
I saw bags ( unknown brands ) that cost only 2 dollars.
Thus i'm puzzled
