Personally I don't think there's any effective (sustainable) canister media that can help reduce nitrate... how about investing in a denitrator? But of course... I could be wrong. Will tag along to learn more too.
What type of filter media combo do you guys have in your cannister filters? What type of filter media best reduces nitrate levels in tank? By the way, im currently using a Ehiem 2213. Please advise.

one way that you can try to arrange your media is as such:
1. water in
2. ceramic rings
3. coarse sponge
4. biomedia
5. fine sponge
6. water out
that's how eheim recommends media should be arranged in its pro2 series and i find it works well
I see. Because recently i've got some serious white spot problems in my tank, dose some mythene blue and they got better. But after 3 days the spots came back. I was wondering if there is an increase in nitrate level, my 2ft planted is about reaching 1mth old. Thats why im asking about filter media, will the effectiveness of filter media help to solve this problem.
