oh.. so you guys acctually pour rainwater in your tank to make them more acidic and that trigger apisto to spawn? was wondering if i can pour some rain water in my 1ft cube planted?
Just make sure that you collect clean rainwater and i use to pour in about 1/3 of it into my 1ft cube tank.
The pair of Agassizii red that I put up for sales had spawned
The Viejita Gold stop dancing as the female is not ready.
The new juvenile pair of Agassizii Alenquer female just turn yellow and dancing around.

Actually, i feel there is no need to specially use rain water. Especially if you guys are already using soils that lowers the pH of the water. Just do frequent water changes. This will incite them to spawn.

which one? the elizabethae pair or the agassizii tefe?the males of both pairs are really aggressive...don't know how to coax the female one, just chase chase chase hahaha
The Agassizii Tefe,I saw them while it was under the reserved tank at Biotope,I am impressed by the wild form.

the finnage is lovely, but tail colouration wise there is currently a farm bred tefe at c328 that's nicer. i'm very happy with mine thoughi currently can't find the female...don't know if they bred in some hidden corner or the male killed her and ate the corpse

My Ap. viejita spawned. Brood size of at least 70 and saw my betta picking them from the bottom of the breeding net.
Yixiang, you might want to consider resizing your photos so that they fit nicely into the forum pages for easy viewing.

Just came home early to check out my fishes & I saw hongsloi fries!!!! Not really what i've planned, I wanted inka fries more. My 2 pairs of inkas are not really doing anything.
I can really tell that the female is a very vigilant mum. Surrounding her spawning site, there's at least a 10 cm buffer zone. All fishes & shrimps were being chased away. Even the all dominant male is being chased away, out of the buffer zone where he patrols creating a secondary buffer zone in my community tank.
It's really interesting to see these fishes creating this zones, where it's really visible in a community tank. All other fishes are really staying out of the zone.
Was actually planning to rescape & clean my internal filter for the long weekend, which is right beside the spawning area. Looks like I'll have to scrape that idea.
Now here's the problem. My tank is currently having white spot outbreak. Just bought a bottle of interpet anti white spot plus. Is it safe to add the medication? Will the fries be affected by white spots?
ETA for fry hatching for my pair is tonight or tomorrowthis female's a surprise...i was warned that she's be easily bullied as my male was super aggressive and she was super docile...more than 1 person commented to me that the male was busy chasing the female all over the tank while i reserved this pair...but it seems like she's held him at bay for a week!
Wow, good to hear a couple of spawning activities happening. Both my agassizi super red and cacatuoides triple red pairs also spawned. My martini pair still happily chasing each other around, no signs of spawning at all.![]()
