Should you want the red calcerous algae on your live rock, you may like to try adding the Potassium Sulphate into your tank. Potassium sulphate is actually a chemical used in my planted tank to promote healthy growth of plants (i.e. macro level--- prevent plants from yellowing). I added them to my marine tank...and the next thing I know, the red calcerous algae on the live rock flourish after a week. Do not add too much..cos it is very unsightly...and now a problem for me..... the algae covers some of my green macro algae with bubbles over it(i.e.the red calcerous algae produce oxygen during photosynthesis).

Just wondering anyone try the same thing..[]

Let us work together to preserve the world for our children to inherit by being responsible to our surroundings. Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints, bubbles and memories.

Good question Kel Quite surprised that the calcareous algae gives out oxygen...hopefully its not slime or blue algae.

And also...pls advise where can we get the potassium Sulphate? At any aquarium shop?

Then in that case, I think it is slime algae...not calcareous algae. I thought both are the same. Sorry

greenhorn ,red calcerous algae doesn't give oxygen bubbles?, it won't grow over that fast as well, hee hee,i think u just encouraged dino or cyano red slime-(they bubble). as kel said, if its slimy then that's not what u want.

For red calcerous/corraline algae(range from pink to dark red in colouration)u need a good stable calcium level- & let nature do the rest.
