it could be due to bacterial bloom, but not very sure if its really this.
Hi all, I am not sure if this is the right place for this thread but i am really at wits end as to how to solve my cloudy water problem. I started my planted tank about 2 months ago using Ada Amazonia II as substrate. Initially there was some cloudiness but I thought after a few changes the water will clear but it seem after so many weeks the problems get worse. Wondering if there is a bloom in nutrients. I am using Astro external canister - I think 1200/l flowrate. The last time when I used lapis sand and other fertiliser I did not face such problems. Don't know whats wrong. Hope the bros n sister here can help. Thanks![]()

if its bacterial boom what do you do to rid of it ?![]()
Did you add any additives/fertilizers/bacteria onto the soil while setting up the tank? Just curious.
hey guys my tank water is now crystal clear. what i did was washed the sponge in the canister and planted a few bunches of blyxa japonica and also changed about 70% of the water. After a few days when i returned from work i saw the water crystal clear and it was really heart-lifting. Thanks to all bros who shared.![]()

sunflower,
well done...
at least we learn from you too. We will do like wise!

bacteria bloom , no need to worry, takes about 5 days to clear. Besides, the new ADA soil 2, has less issues with cloudiness as well... the package did indicate right![]()
