This may sound ridiculous but anyone thought of using life tubifex worms to to improve base fert for those using lapis sand?

I was once feeding my fish when I notice how quickly the tubifex worms cluster quickly 'sink in' find their way into the substrate and safely hide themselves .
Since they produce a significant about of bioload load , wouldn't a little of these guys help in base fert since they are always hiding in the sand and hopefully the these bio load only escape slowly out of the substrate? They may eat also eat up rotting plant matter and broken roots as well .

You are aware tubifex worms at a certain stage will start releasing toxin.

The worms have short lifespan... they will die off and foul up your tank water... not really worth the effort though.

    Cheers!
