How's the algae control?
Did the shorter lighting period help?

It is a good day to die!!!
I finally uploaded an avatar and Cupid is dead!!!![]()
you are making me come back to glosso![]()
Looking good.
very nice ...up
Its really clean and simple, I find it very nice. Do you encounter any algae or you applying some algae control method?
Thanks.
have you encounter any BBA?
Thank you for the comments.
Cutting back on lighting period and wattage might have helped to suppress the algae. But I wouldn't know. Could be the work of water change and shrimps too. Reducing lighting span and power have certainly slowed the glosso propagation, though.
No, no BBA as of now. There are however slight hints of hair and spot algae appearing on glass. Green spot algae also showing up on my C02 diffusor ceramic plate.
Noticeable are some leaves with holes. Might be the work of shrimps, absence of column fert or both.
Any comment on the conditions welcomed.![]()

Thanks for all the comments.
Lee1224, I do not have any idea what is the plant on that higher hill. Perhaps somebody can ID that for me. If not apparent, i wld take a clearer photo of it.
Emmanuel, perhaps, the high circulation rate next to my filter intake contributes to the algae on the ceremic disc? I'm not sure of that. My original intend is for the filter intake to absorb roughly 50% of the C02 bubbles, improving the C02-H20 mixture in the aquarium.
Hi,
splendid tank, kudos to you.
the algae on the ceramic disc; isn't it quite normal? because the water is fertile and there pores on the ceramic surface inevitably traps some nutrients, leading to algae exploiting the perfect conditions(light, nutrient, co2) on the surface. hope i'm not wrong.![]()
This is the look after 3 weeks. The growth is not too fast at the moment. Algae kept at bay. The rummy nose shun the glosso hill; they simply swim at the hill foot. Perhaps it is the bright light they dislike...
The holes, though barely apparent, are still on the glosso, not sure of the reason. You may be able to spot the holes with the Yamato...
This is the plant on hill-top. I don't know the plant name...
Bubbles on the leaves...
That is all for this weekend, thanks folks.
Really nice set up, will look great if the Discus are in, becoming the center of attraction and attention, I am also keeping planted tank with Discus and cherry shrimps, but my Discus don't eat up the shrimps, or maybe the shrimps are simply too fast, they always bounce off when they sense Discus closing on them![]()
wa... very nice![]()
Your glossos really took off! they're spreading like crazy just after 2~3weeks?
Like jason,i think discus would look pretty good in your tank!Combo with some smaller tetras..whoah!
Your corner plant looks like an echinodurous. I'd suggest an external reactor instead of the ceremic diffuser.
The tank looks really nice. But it will be better if bigger rocks are placed on both sides to create a valley/cliff effect.
