hi waterh2o, actually i got myself 18 more white cloud mountain minnow, so have a total of 28 in my 3ft now.

now im planning to get a pair of A.cacatuoides to be the feature fish of my tank

regarding the background, i will just leave it as it is until i decided to take a pic for competition or whatever. too lazy to put up an oyama paper now.

Well the choice is up to you. Just thought a background brings out the scape and also the colour of your white cloud. It will also bring out out the A.cacatuoides when you add them in later. I have a 3 feet too inhabitants are

wow thats alot of fauna. if so what colour do you suggest i use for my background? black seems to be able to bring out the colour better, but white looks brighter and nicer.

hmm why dont i get both and try? haha actually whats the max number of fauna we can keep in a standard 3x1.5x1.5ft tank?

I kind of keep the live stock on the lower side to be safe. The thing about the 1 inch of fish size per gallon rule not very helpful because very difficult to measure and gauge. I simplfied things a little to say my water volum about 168 l is about 44 gallon so 1 inch per gallon means about 44 fishes but different fish are of different size so if you have bigger size fishes like my torpedoes then reduce a little say about 30-35 fishes should be fine. That why I say mine is at the threshold. For small fish like tetras, 44 of them should not be a problem but it better to get lesser to be on the safe side. You can also obeserve the water condition in tank to see if you can added in a little wee bit more. Some people here may disagree well it just a guide.
What do you mean by try both 1 side white 1side black?

i see. thanks for the advice. so far my tank has a total of around 35 fishes and everything seems alright.

i mean i will buy both colours and see which will fit better before i stick it up
