As the title summarizes, i'm intending to have 2 canister filters (both Eheim proII 2028s) for my upcoming 4x2x2 setup. I intend to use external co2 reactor(s) for the setup, and am wondering whether there's a need to run 2 reactors (1 to each filter) with a co2 splitter, or just to have 1 reactor to 1 of the filters

2 reactor for each filter should give better CO2 spread, I think.

But that means you'll have to buy one more reactor. $$$$$

Why not connect one canister to a reactor, and use the other's outut to aid in the flow of the co2 enriched water?
    Cheers,

I believe that as long as the water in the tank is well circulated, dissolved CO2 from just 1 reactor will also be well circulated together.

I fully agree with KeIgO86. Save the second filter for chiller/UV.

I believe bro illumae is using external reactor and his concern is about mix rate of water with co2. Just treat it as the other filter is for extra flow and use the other for co2.

I like the idea of having 2 reactors. Much better distribution of CO2. But practically, its much easier to control and calculate just 1 reactor and use the other one as a 'wavemaker' (if the flowrate doesn't drop) to distribute the CO2.

I was thinking that you can inject more CO2 with 2 reactor. What i mean is reactor have bps limit, more than the limit and buble start coming out from the reactor. However, with 2 reactor you can inject twice as much.

Of course you might not need that much of CO2

i wasn't concerned about the bps limit of the reactor, rather it was how well distributed the co2 will be just coming from 1 reactor as compared to 2

thanks for the feedback guys, seems like 1 reactor is the more popular method

are you using chiller for ur 4ft tank?

1 cansiter for your Co2 injection and theother for chiller. I am using this method for months work very well with this
    cheers

nope no chiller, i MAY have a UV sterilizer running 24/7 though, still deciding on this. when i get home i'll draw up a small diagram showing how i intend to position the inlet/outlet of the 2 filters, maybe it'll help in giving me advice?
